Let's Party!!!

OK you just started your home based party plan business and you are so nervous your knees are banging together and your palms are sweaty. Now what should you wear? You stand in your closet and stare at your clothes and grab some designer jeans and a couple tanks for that layered look that is so popular and put them on. Now that is nice and comfortable! What have you done wrong here? YOU HAVE DRESSED LIKE THE GUESTS - LEISURELY AND TOO COMFORTABLE LOOKING! What should you be wearing? You should dress like a professional, like you are going to a daytime job. A nice skirt and top or perhaps a dressy pant suit. Now why you ask should I dress like that? I believe in order to be taken seriously as a business woman you need to act and dress the part!

Next you take your time and get to the party just as the guests are showing up! What is wrong with that? You should always show up early enough to be set up before the guests come and also to offer the hostess a hand. Let the hostess know what is going to go on and in what order so she can offer her Hor Dourves at the right moment. I also like to ask if there is a quiet private area where I can take orders and speak to guests! This gives them the chance to ask questions and you can see who might be interested in the business opportunity and also makes it easier to upsell and book more presentations. When they are distracted this is all hard to achieve.

Presentation: Hi I am (insert name here) and I am gonna show you my stuff now. WRONG!
Hi I am (insert name) with Tupperware (or your company) and I would love to share our wonderful product line with you all! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules and now let me show youhow to save time!.............

Closing: OK I am done....anyone want to order? WRONG! Thank you (hostess name) for inviting me and your friends here this evening. I also like to ask if there is a quiet private area where I can take orders and speak to guests! This gives them the chance to ask questions and you can see who might be interested in the business opportunity and also makes it easier to upsell and book more presentations. When they are distracted this is all hard to achieve. I would like you all one by one to come into (designated area) and place your orders and ask questions.

Planning and presentating your presentation is very important. Looking confident and knowing your products for questions is also important. Remember it is a SHOW and you need to be your best and the STAR of the show!

I believe this would go with any party plan and I hope this helps the newbies and some of the not so newbies out there!

Joan Penfold has been in the how show based business for 5 years and is also VP for a National Medical Company and with her knowledge in both has a lot to share.
